10 page Quicknife teaser released

In some ways, I kept the task easy for myself. There isn’t a lot of action in this first scene, as it’s basically a walk-and-talk. But I wanted it to really open up a more grounded view of Alterran than you get from Gran’s journey in Tales, and so a lot of the effort went into location concept design and “vibe,” and I’m happy with how that came out. It's borrowing inspiration from a lot of places and times… eastern European slavic, 15th-17th century Ottoman, British Victorian era and also early 20th century ("Peaky Blinders era" gangsterism). I wasn't initially sure if I could get the balance right, but a couple months of iterating concept designs before getting rolling seems to have paid off.

There's a setting specific reason for that blend of times and places, which has been explored in various places in Fallen Cycle materials about the Second World, but more importantly, it looks cool.

Check it out here, and sign up for the announcement list there if you want to hear more about this and other projects that are brewing, what I’m mulling over, etc.
